How many sessions will my child need?

This depends entirely on your child's challenges, the support they need and their engagement with the process. Many children achieve results in as little as 1-3 sessions but some need longer. We explore your child's needs fully and work towards achieving their desired outcome - whatever that looks like for your family. My aim is to empower children to use the tools and techniques we work on and apply them to their lives themselves going forward.

My child feels nervous or worried about seeing a coach

Many children feel this way at first and that is OK. Coaching sessions are relaxed, fun and interactive, and I explain everything in a way children can understand. Your child can ask as many questions as they need to, and you can be involved as much or as little as suits them. I provide a safe, non-judgemental space where children can explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours at their own pace.

What is the Ollie Method?

The Ollie Method is a therapeutic intervention for wellbeing in children, teens and adults, based on the Ollie and His Superpowers books. It helps children see their emotions as superpowers they can learn to control, rather than something that controls them. For younger children there are Ollie dolls and books that families can use to support their child's journey at home. Find out more at Ollie and His Superpowers.

What if we don't "click" during the Discovery Session?

The connection between child and coach is paramount. Your child has to feel comfortable and you need to feel confident that I am the right person to support them. The free discovery session is your opportunity to ask questions, find out how the process works and see whether we are a good fit. There will be no hard feelings if you decide I'm not the right coach for your family, and no obligation to book more sessions. If you don't want to continue with me I may be able to suggest other coaches you could try.

Does online coaching work for children?

Yes - online video coaching can achieve amazing results and is often more convenient for busy families. It also removes travel time and means your child can be somewhere they already feel safe and comfortable. As long as they have a private, quiet space, I'd encourage you to give it a try. I can send you tips on how to help your child get the most from online sessions.

Do you offer in-person coaching?

Yes, I offer face-to-face coaching sessions as well as online sessions, and I also work with schools, education settings and organisations through Ollie Schools. Please get in touch to discuss what would work best for your child.

What my child needs support with is not listed on your website

If you can't find what you are looking for, want more information or are not sure if my approach is right for your child, please book a free discovery call to talk it through. If I can't help I may be able to direct you to someone who can.

What is the difference between coaching, therapy and counselling?

I realise these terms can be confusing and are often used interchangeably. I am an NLP Practitioner and also trained in the transformative Ollie Method, which is a therapeutic intervention. I am fully insured and uphold a strict code of conduct, ethics and professional practice. I have an Enhanced DBS Check, Safeguarding Level 1 and 2 and have completed PREVENT training.

I use the term coach as my approach is action-based and primarily focused on the present and the future, as we can't change the past. However, I do work with past events to help children change the emotion they associate with a past event. I use a strengths-based and solution-focused approach to support children to find their own solutions and put them into action to achieve the outcome they want.
